Vincent Buzzelli, Treasurer

Hello, my name is Vincent Buzzelli and I am the current treasurer of the NJMEAC E-board. I am a senior music education major at The College of New Jersey with a concentration in saxophone. I have been afforded the opportunity of working with my local NAfME chapter as a former president as well as current treasurer. During these times our executive board has organized volunteering opportunities for our collegiate members on campus to assist with entering music auditions, as well as given students the opportunity to assist with Region I and II auditions. I am also a proud brother of the Lambda Nu Chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia at TCNJ, which we chartered from a colony over a span of two years. As treasurer for NJMEAC it will be my responsibility to fundraise for holding events like our Advocacy Day. I look forward to working with the new E-board as well as networking with other collegiate members across the state as we come into the All Eastern conference this year!

Kristin Schenk, Secretary

As the former president of the Westminster Choir College chapter of NAfME, I exhibit skills and attributes that are suitable for the position of secretary. Communication is one of my strongest suits, and I communicate daily through email and other social medias to professors, alumni, the other members of the executive board, as well as the student body. We have had excellent attendance at events due to communication by email, social media, as well as word of mouth.
I am highly organized, a thorough note-taker, and dedicated to my leadership positions/organizations. During my time as NAfME president, with the help of my incredible executive board, we successfully sent a student group to the NAfME National Conference in Nashville. It was the first time Westminster sent students to the National Conference. We also created a “Faculty, Alumni, and Friends” lecture series, sent a student group to the NJMEA State Conference, the highest Westminster participation seen in years, have successfully connected to professionals, alumni, as well as other NAfME executive boards from NJ universities, and sent students to Advocacy Day in April. We also hope to make Advocacy Day the springboard to a NJ Collegiate Conference, potentially called “Collegiate Day”, where music education students from universities surrounding Princeton can network, attend sessions by participating school professors, discuss the issues in our field, as well as celebrate our futures.
I feel confident in my ability to contribute to the board, and am excited to join our new state team!

Casey Kurfehs, Media Coordinator

Hello, my name is Casey Kurfehs. I am a percussionist at Kean University, and I am very excited to be your NAfME state board media coordinator for the 2016-2017 term. For the past four years I have been an active member of the Kean University chapter of NAfME, and in the past year, I have worked on our board as our social media coordinator. I created our Instagram and updated that, as well as our Facebook, regularly in order to keep members up to date with what was happening in our chapter. I also actively helped organize and participate in all of our groups projects and events last year. I thoroughly enjoyed my position on the Kean NAfME board, and I am so happy to have the opportunity to work for you this year.

If you ever need to contact me, don’t hesitate email.
