Session Part 1

Virtual Music Instruments in the Elementary Music Classroom

Presenter

Amy Burns

Synopsis

Many of us are coming back to school and will not be able to perform on traditional instruments. However, if elementary students have access to devices, are there ways they can actively make music with their devices? Amy will show some ideas, websites, and apps that can help students actively play virtual music instruments.

Session Part 2

Inclusive and Engaging Practices in the Virtual Music Classroom

Presenters

Katy Brodhead Cullen & Libby Gopal

Synopsis

The COVID-19 pandemic is disproportionately affecting students and families of color and has exposed inequities in schools that are located in historically low-income communities. Join us to share resources and discuss strategies for building a virtual music classroom community that includes culturally-responsive teaching and anti-racist pedagogy as we prepare to resume teaching in September.
