2019 NAfME All National Honors Ensembles Information
Applications for the 2019 All-National Honors Ensemble open this Friday, February 1st. This year’s event will take place November 7-10, 2019 at the Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center in Orlando, FL. NAfME is very excited to announce that there will be another new ensemble this year, the All-National Modern Band. This ensemble will be comprised of 20 students represented across all six NAfME divisions, including but not limited to guitar, drums, vocalists, bass, and keyboard. NAfME is piloting this new ensemble with Little Kids Rock and is excited to offer more students the opportunity to perform at the national level.
New Jersey Student Eligibility:
Several years ago, a scheduling conflict arose between the NAfME All-National Honors Ensembles (ANHE) and our November All-State events. Unfortunately, after many discussions with NAfME about this conflict and the hardship that it places on New Jersey students, the scheduling of the ANHE will once again conflict with NJ All-State in November of this year. NJMEA policy states that all students must complete their New Jersey All-State experience in order to participate in All-National Honors Ensembles. Because the dates conflict this year, we cannot endorse any Chorus, Orchestra, or Jazz students for the 2019 All-National Honors Ensembles. Band students will remain eligible as long as they fulfill their February All-State obligations, and do not select to also be a member of the All-State Orchestra. This is consistent with how NJMEA has handled this conflict in the past.
In summary, NJMEA has set the following eligibility requirements for students interested in applying for the 2019 NAfME All-National Honors Ensembles. If there are any questions, please contact NJMEA for clarification.
Must have been accepted to the February 2019 All-State Wind Ensemble or Symphonic Band.
Must complete February 2019 All-State obligation to remain eligible. (Band students who have chosen, and been accepted to Orchestra are not eligible).
Must be a member of your school Guitar program during the 2018-2019 school year.
Must remain in school Guitar program for the 2019-2020 school year to remain eligible.
Orchestra, Jazz, and Chorus Students are not eligible.
