2018 All-State Transportation Packet

The deadline for a refund for the housing and participation fee was Saturday, September 15, 2018.  There will be NO Refunds for any reason given after this date.

Dear All State Mixed Chorus Member,

Please read through this entire e-mail to avoid asking a question later that was already answered in the e-mail!

The third All-State Mixed Chorus rehearsal will be next Saturday, October 13.

Details below:

Rehearsal #3: Edison High School

Saturday, October 13, 2018      
8:30 to 12:00 Noon – Arrive by 8:00 AM
Edison High School
50 Boulevard of the Eagles, Edison, NJ 08817

Arrive at 8:00 AM so that check-in will move smoothly and quickly. You will then move into the auditorium and receive instructions on where to sit. Rehearsal begins promptly at 8:30 AM.

Required Preparation: Make sure to review your music before this rehearsal in order to optimize your time together with your conductor. As Dr. Thomas has requested, please have the following prepared:

If you are late, it may count as an absence, so allow extra time for travel. You must also sign out in order for the rehearsal to count.

Near the conclusion of rehearsal, parents/guardians should be at Edison High School by 11:45AM to pick you up. Rehearsal will end by 12:00 Noon. Please tell them to be no later than 12:00 so that our teacher volunteers do not have to stay late. Thank you for your cooperation.

We are doing seating assignments different this week – (Apologies for the confusion / chaos that was last rehearsal!)

IMPORTANT INFO REGARDING HOUSING AND PARTICIPATION FEES:

Important dates:

Medical Form, Rules Form – were due at the first rehearsal.
The housing form and fee, AND the participation fee were due by August 1, 2018.
Roommate Selection – was due September 30, 2018 – See the document for details (Note – Mr. Doheny, our housing coordinator, is NOT accepting late rooming requests.)

ATLANTIC CITY BUSES:
The transportation packet should have been sent out to you. If you did not receive the packet / e-mail with details about bussing, please visit https://njmea.org/all-state/mixed-chorus/ and click on “2018 All-State Transportation Packet.” (You can also click here: https://njmea.org/wp-content/uploads/sites/3/2018/09/2018-All-State-Transportation-Packet.pdf) SPACE FILLS UP QUICKLY! Do it ASAP to guarantee a seat on the bus — Mr. Westawski will NOT accommodate last minute or late requests for a space on the bus!

BUS REQUEST DEADLINE: October 15 – Postmark Deadline: October 16!
Your bus assignment will not be confirmed until:

  1. The online transportation form is filled out and submitted: http://tinyurl.com/njallstate2018
  2. Your check and Payment Remittance Form are received by the Transportation Director.

PLEASE DOUBLE CHECK ALL DATES AND TIMES! They are the same dates you agreed upon in your audition application. Students are expected to attend each scheduled rehearsal for its entire duration. Permission will not be given to come late or leave early. You are allowed ONE absence. If you feel that you will be unable to attend all rehearsals and the performance weekend in its entirety, please DO NOT accept a place in this ensemble!

YOU MAY NOT MISS ANY PART OF ANY REHEARSAL HELD DURING THE PERFORMANCE WEEKEND!       

The participation and housing fees must be paid directly to the NJMEA Office, either by credit card, check, or PO by August 1, 2018. If the fee is not paid, you may not attend the September rehearsal until it is paid, and this will count as your one and only absence. If the fees are not paid by September 15, 2018 you will not be able to participate in NJ All-State Chorus. Also, there will be no refunds after September 15, 2018.

You are allowed ONE absence. An absence is defined as missing a rehearsal OR ANY PART THEREOF; therefore you are not allowed to be late or to leave early. After the second absence, you will no longer be a member of the ensemble, nor will you be eligible to audition for All-State Chorus in the future. You must perform at BOTH CONCERTS in order to receive your all-state pin and to maintain eligibility for the following year.
